Steyn nears return, confirms full fitness

Cape Town - Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn has revealed that he is fully fit and aims to make a comeback in November.

Steyn has not played cricket since November last year when he injured his shoulder while on Proteas duty against Australia in Perth.

The 34-year-old was set to make his long-awaited comeback in the inaugural T20 Global League, when he was bought by the Cape Town Knight Riders.

However, Cicket South Africa (CSA) pulled the plug on the tournament for this year due to financial concerns - it will now only take place in November, 2018.

Steyn would be returning to the Titans in Pretoria from the start of the new domestic season, bringing an end to his time with the Cape Cobras.

However, there is no word on when he'll play as CSA has not announced a schedule for November and December to fill the void of the T20 Global League.

Following an extended spell of rehabilitation, Steyn has been hard at work since then - posting various video clips of him bowling in the nets.

He revealed this week that he is fully fit and is ready to get back into the middle.

"My arm is perfect, if anything its stronger than it was before because it's (been) reinforced with a pin," Steyn told Cricinfo.

"It's 100 percent now. I've just got to start reminding myself how to bowl at high speeds because I haven't done it for a year."

Steyn is four Test wickets away from reaching the 421 mark which would tie him with former Proteas all-rounder Shaun Pollock as the all-time leading South African wicket-taker in Test cricket.
