Davids ton leads Titans charge

Cape Town - Captain Henry Davids hit an unbeaten century as the Titans dominated the second day of their Sunfoil Series clash against rivals the Highveld Lions at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Friday.

The defending champions reached stumps at the halfway stage of the game on a commanding 327/6, a lead of 121, with the skipper leading the way.

Davids hit his 12th first-class century as he ended the day on 101 not out (218 balls, 10 fours, 1 six), building on the earlier work done by openers Aiden Markram and Heino Kuhn.

The pair put on 124 for the first wicket, with veteran and last season’s top batsman Kuhn hitting a fluent 71 (94 balls, 10 fours, 1 six).

Youngster Markram, who has already hit two centuries in the previous two matches that were his first in franchise cricket, accumulated 53 (115 balls, 6 fours).

After the pair fell, Davids put on 50 plus stands with Grant Mokoena (30) and Qaasim Adams (30), while the latest partnership was worth an unbroken 46 with David Wiese (26).

Aaron Phangiso was the pick of the bowlers with 2/68, while Sean Jamison collected 2/90.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
