Van Biljon ton enables Knights to dominate

Cape Town - A century by Pite van Biljon highlighted a free-scoring batting performance by the Knights as they dominated the opening day of their Sunfoil Series clash against the Highveld Lions at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The right-hander made an attacking 119 (164 balls, 19 fours), the 12th ton of his career, to lead his side to 408/7 at stumps. There were also significant contributions from captain Theunis de Bruyn (72 off 87 balls, 13 fours, 1 six) and Diego Rosier, who opened the batting and hit 60 (92 balls, 9 fours, 1 six).

Luthando Mnyanda (46) and Rudi Second (45) also chipped in as the Central franchise dominated, having won the toss and batted.

At one stage they were on 345/3, but then lost late wickets as Beuran Hendricks ended with 3/72.

Both sides entered the final round of matches hoping to overtake the Titans at the top of the table.
