Warriors, Cobras lose a day to rain

Cape Town - The Warriors and Cape Cobras’ hopes of making gains on the Sunfoil Series table suffered a blow when day three of their Cape derby was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Buffalo Park in East London on Saturday.

The match was evenly poised at the halfway stage with the hosts on 175/5 replying to the visitors’ 291 all out – a difference of 116.

No play was possible in the first session on day two due to a wet outfield and it was much of the same after overnight rain left underfoot conditions too damp for the liking of umpires Dennis Smith and Shaun George.

The Warriors entered round seven encounter in fourth place on 58.42 points, while the Cobras were bottom on 44.32 points.
