Cape Cobras confirm World Sports Betting as team sponsor

Cape Town - The Cape Cobras announced on Tuesday that World Sports Betting (WSB) as the new title sponsors of the franchise over the next three years.

WSB is South Africa's premier Online Sportsbook, offers online, mobile, tele-bet and in-store betting on a wide range of sport.

"We are extremely upbeat about the association with the Cape Cobras," said Warren Tannous, chief executive officer of WSB.

"Henceforth they will be known as the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras, and we are confident that more than three trophies over the next three seasons will be emblazoned with that exact name.

"Our immediate aim and focus is to offer extensive resources and support to the Cobras so that they can return to the summit of the game domestically," added Tannous.

"We also express our vehement opposition to match-fixing. We wish to work in association with the players and the South African Cricket Players Association where our assistance is needed in order to educate and train players about the unlawfulness and dangers of match-fixing - a sad reality which has tarnished the industry of betting.

"We look forward to working with the cricket authorities to break down the stigma around the industry," said Tannous.

"We look forward to changing the face of Cobras Cricket and fans of the franchise can expect some fantastic on field activations, cheerleaders and a whole lot more... We are especially excited to see our heroes take the field in their new WSB Orange away kits," said National Marketing Manager for WSB, Ryno Du Plessis.

"WSB is not a company that associates themselves merely with the fully professional stars. No, they are a charitable sports betting company who want to see the game flourish at grassroots level in order to broaden its base. This is an exciting prospect," said Beresford Williams, chairperson of Western Cape Cricket.
