Dizzy shuts down Oz coaching rumours

Cape Town - Former Australia paceman and current Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie has moved quickly to shut down any further talks about a role with the Australian team, saying he has no intention of leaving Leeds.

Gillespie's name has been linked to a coaching role with Australia for months, but the Championship-winning coach said on Wednesday that any reports of him being close to signing any sort of deal with CA are false.

Gillespie told foxsports.com.au: "Just to be absolutely clear, I have not spoken to CA about a role with the Australian Cricket Team.

"Darren (Lehmann) mentioned my name in a radio interview a while back (in April) re: me being involved so it stands to reason that I will be linked to certain positions.

"Bear in mind I have not applied for any role with CA nor do I intend to. I am currently very happy in my roles with Yorkshire CCC and the Adelaide Strikers."

Until the Aussies find a permanent replacement for former bowling coach Craig McDermott, the role will be filled on a tour by tour basis by Adam Griffith and former South Africa quick Allan Donald.

CA said they were still in the process of hiring someone: "We're speaking with a number of candidates but by no means is anything confirmed.

"We'll look to make an announcement as soon as the process is complete, with the aim to have the coaching team finalised, at latest, by the start of the 2016-17 Australian summer."
