Cape Town - The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board conducted an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the recent Test series whitewash against South Africa.
The Proteas dominated in all departments as Sri Lanka were convincingly beaten 3-0 in the series, which concluded with an innings and 118 runs loss at the Wanderers.
The meeting was conducted by SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala in Sri Lanka with captain Angelo Mathews and coach Graham Ford present via telephone from South Africa.
Among those in attendance included former Sri Lankan cricketers and now chairman of selectors Sanath Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva.
According to the Sri Lankan official website, the meeting helped boost the morale of the team after their humiliating defeat to South Africa.
During the meeting, Mathews affirmed his team's commitment to re-strategise for the upcoming T20 and ODI series.
"Angelo is confident of bouncing back and winning the tournament," said Sumathipala after the meeting.
"We believe that if you are afraid of losing, you can never have a winning team."
While accepting the team's challenges faced during the recent Test series, Mathews remained confident that the team would give their best to secure a win for their country.
The Sri Lankans have an opportunity to bounce back in the shorter formats of the game when they take on the Proteas in three T20Is followed by five ODIs.
The first T20 gets underway on Friday, January 20 at Centurion (18:00 SA time).
