Coe backs Brisbane bid for 2028 Olympics

Brisbane — IAAF president Lord Sebastian Coe has described a potential Brisbane bid to host the 2028 Olympics as "a very attractive proposition."

Visiting the Gold Coast to outline reform proposals for athletics' governing body with Oceania officials, Coe said Australia had the "bandwidth of experience" to deliver major events, including the Olympics and the track and field world championships.

Coe said delivering top international sporting events was in Australia's DNA.

He said "anything in Australia is a credible thought because you have, in the past, proven that you not only deliver Games effectively, you deliver them extremely well. I don't have any sleepless nights over the operational ability of Australians to deliver great sporting events."
