'Mayhem' Miller returns to MMA for title shot

Cape Town - Jason “Mayhem” Miller is officially coming out of retirement.

Miller has signed with the Italian based promotion Venator FC and will face Luke Barnatt for his middleweight title according to Nick Strickland of MMALatestNews.com.

The bout is set to take place on May 21, in Milan Italy.

Miller (28-9-1) has not fought since a May 2012 loss to C.B Dolloway at UFC 146.

The 35-year-old has since found himself in a few legal troubles after being away from the sport.

“Mayhem” is a true veteran of the sport having fought for Dream, Strikeforce, WEC and the UFC. Miller has wins over the likes of Denis Kang, Robbie Lawler and Kazushi Sakuraba.

Regardless of the legal woes Venator FC President, Frank Merenda, is very excited to have Miller in the promotion,

" 'Mayhem' Miller is a beast. He is one of the most beloved fighters of all time and people have badly missed such a performer with guts, attitude and at the same time a strong will to win big and to entertain. He’s a huge, huge achievement for Venator FC to have him back in the saddle for the fans all around the world," said Merenda.

Barnatt (9-3) won the Venator FC middleweight title last December when he submitted Mattia Schiavolin via fourth-round rear-naked choke.

The win was Barnatt’s first his May release from the UFC. Barnatt is scheduled to face Charles Andrade on Feb. 20 at BCMMA 14 in England prior to facing Miller.
