Watts leaves Kings for Griquas

Cape Town - Flyhalf Elgar Watts is excited at the prospect of playing for Giquas in the upcoming Currie Cup season.

Watts, 31, has opted to leave the Kings and signed a deal with Griquas until the end of the 2017 season.

He joined the Kings from the Cheetahs in June last year, having previously also represented Boland and the Pumas.

Watts told Netwerk24 he didn’t enjoy his time at the Kings, who are in major financial strife with the EP Rugby Union set to be liquidated.

“For me, 2016 has not been a good year for my rugby. I am therefore eager to impress for Griquas during the Currie Cup,” said Watts.

“The last year was quite tough at the Kings, especially with everything that happened off the field."
