WP boosted by returning key stars

Cape Town - Scrumhalf Jano Vermaak and fullback SP Marais have recovered from their respective injuries and are available for selection for Western Province's Currie Cup semi-final on Saturday.

WP will host the Golden Lions at Newlands at 17:00.

However, WP coach John Dobson appeared hesitant at the notion of throwing Marais in particular into such a big match after a lengthy layoff.

"He (Marais) hasn't played in while so it might be hard to throw him in a semi-final," said Dobson.

Meanwhile, loose forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe, who was a late withdrawal from the squad that beat the Sharks 31-20 in Durban last Saturday, will also be available this weekend.

The Sharks will host the Blue Bulls in Saturday's other semi-final.

Kick-off in that match is at 14:30.

Should the Sharks emerge victorious they will host the final on October 28 at Kings Park no matter who their opponents are.

However, should John Mitchell's Blue Bulls upset the odds and beat the Sharks, the winner of the WP v Golden Lions clash will host the men from Pretoria in the final.
