JJ Engelbrecht heading back to Cape Town?

Cape Town - Western Province are reportedly interested in luring back Springbok back JJ Engelbrecht to the Mother City.

Engelbrecht, 28, represented the Cape side between 2008 and 2011, before leaving to join the Bulls in Pretoria.

Having spent most of his time at WP on the wing, he was mainly utilised as a centre by the Bulls and also became a Springbok, playing 12 Tests between 2012 and 2013.

He left the Bulls in 2015 to join the Toyota Industries Shuttles in Japan and also recently spent time at Welsh club Ospreys.

According to Netwerk24, WP are keen to sign Engelbrecht, presumably to add depth to their wing stocks.

Afrikaans newspaper Rapport reported earlier this month that the Cheetahs wing duo of Raymond Rhule and Sergeal Petersen were also on their way to Cape Town.

The report added that Springbok loose forward Oupa Mohoje and centre Clinton Swart were also been linked with the Stormers.

Young Free State-based centre Rikus Pretorius, one of the brightest stars to come out of the current crop of school players, has also reportedly agreed to move to Cape Town.

He will be representing Free State at Craven Week this week.

Western Province, at this stage, have not confirmed any new signings.
