Cape Town - English Premiership club Northampton Saints are reportedly eager to sign Springbok and Sharks flyhalf Pat Lambie.
Afrikaans newspaper Rapport reported on Sunday that the English club is eager to secure the services of the Bok pivot.
This comes after earlier reports indicated that the Saints were also interested in signing Lambie’s halfback partner at the Sharks, Cobus Reinach.
The club is reportedly prepared to break the bank to get the duo on their payroll, with the Sharks and SA Rugby confirming they are aware of Northampton’s intention to sign the duo.
Another Sharks player, lock Etienne Oosthuizen, has also been linked with a move to French club Lyon and the Sharks recently confirmed that they were aware of the interest expressed in their players.
The union told Sport24 earlier this month: "We are aware of the recent reports linking two of our players to overseas clubs.
"Both Cobus Reinach and Etienne Oosthuizen’s contracts are up for renewal in October 2017. We are in discussions with these players together with other players who contracts expire this year regarding contract extensions.
"We understand fully the lure of the Pound and Euro and we will do everything we can to retain our players."
Lambie is contracted to SA Rugby, so any negotiations with Northampton would have to be done through the national governing body.
