Louw lashes ‘non-existent’ Stormers defence

Cape Town - Former Springbok and Western Province flank Rob Louw has criticised the Stormers following their 57-14 Super Rugby defeat to the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday.

The Kiwis ran in nine tries as they embarrassed the Stormers in their second match on tour in New Zealand.

The Stormers’ defence has come under intense scrutiny this season and on Friday they again missed 28 tackles, according to All Out Rugby.

In last weekend’s 57-24 defeat to the Crusaders in Christchurch, the Stormers slipped 30 tackles in conceding eight tries.

Louw, who played 19 Tests for the Springboks between 1980 and 1984, wasn't pleased while watching the Stormers on Friday and took to Twitter to hit out at the team’s defensive frailties.

The 62-year old Louw was also a member of the famous Western Province team that won the Currie Cup five times in a row in the 1980s.
