PE expecting '20 000 to 30 000' fans for Sharks

Port Elizabeth - The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth could host its biggest Super Rugby crowd of 2017 when the Kings take on the Sharks on Saturday.

The Kings, largely expected to be given the boot in 2018 as SANZAAR restructures the competition, are experiencing a resurgence under coach Deon Davids and have won their last two fixtures - both against Australian opposition.

The Kings beat the Waratahs 26-24 in Sydney and then thrashed the Rebels 44-3 in PE, and now they will look to go one better against their South African rivals, the Sharks.

According to a report published on the Herald Live website, Kings officials are expecting between "20 000 and 30 000" fans to take to the stands at the 2010 Soccer World Cup venue.

The Kings have been running a #FILLTHESTADIUM campaign on social media in an attempt to bring in more spectators, and they say they have been pleased with the reaction they have seen this week.

The Kings came close to beating the Sharks in Durban back on March 18, eventually going down 19-17 as Lionel Cronje missed a late penalty to win them the game.

Saturday's match kicks off at 17:15.
