Wales frustrated with Six Nations draw

Dublin - Ireland captain Rory Best was more satisfied than his Wales counterpart Sam Warburton after the sides played out a 16-16 draw in Dublin on Sunday.

Wales remain favourites to win the Six Nations this year as they still have three home games to come, while injury-depleted reigning champions Ireland face an uphill task to hold onto their crown now.

And Best was the happier of the two captains after a brutal encounter at Lansdowne Road.

"A draw is a hard result to put into words. We're happy we didn't lose the game," Best told ITV.

"After going behind for the first time with six minutes or so remaining, we showed great character to come back and get the draw.

"That's the positive and we have a lot to work on.

"We wanted to start well, because with the way Wales defend it is a hard task to get back on top of them if they go ahead.

"When we got the ball in the opening half hour, we looked dangerous so it was pleasing.

"To let them find a way back is a bit disappointing."

Warburton couldn't hide his frustration after his side failed to hold onto their lead when going in front for the first time in the match eight minutes from time.

"I was disappointed with the first 20 minutes, we talked before the game about having to start well because Ireland always come flying out of the blocks," said Warburton, whose side trailed 13-0 before the half hour mark.

"We're pleased that we weathered the storm and managed to fight back.

"A draw is not a good result for anyone. It takes away the possibility of a Grand Slam or Triple Crown, and it means we have got to take another big scalp down the line to win the Championship.

"But we have got three home games now so that's the positive."

Wales head coach Warren Gatland was clearly not impressed with the result.

"I feel like I've been kissing my sister," said the New Zealander somewhat cryptically.

"Both teams will be frustrated, but we're still in the competition.

"We started poorly in the first 20 minutes, after that we raised the tempo and got into the game. It was a soft penalty for them to tie the game, but perhaps on reflection it was a fair result."
