Jardim: Falcao is a great striker

Cape Town - Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim is not surprised by the form of striker Radamel Falcao this season despite his less than successful stint in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old, who was seen a flop during spells on loan with Manchester United and then Chelsea, has been imperious in Ligue 1 this term.

The Colombian international has scored 22 goals in all competitions, with Jardim hailing the player as a great striker.

Ahead of their Champions League last-16 tie with Manchester City on Tuesday, the Monaco boss said: "I knew Falcao before he came to England because he was playing in Porto.

"He's still a great striker, a great goalscorer. It's easy to work with him.

"This year we paid attention to the specific work because the last two years he did not play much. But now, he is in good shape."

He added: "We are  happy with him. He is an important player for the club and also for the team."

Falcao's record of four in his past four games for Monaco is a far cry from his spell in England where he netted just five Premier League goals in total.

The former Manchester United striker is back in Manchester ahead of the last-16 clash against City and will be looking to remind English fans of his goal-scoring prowess that made him one of the deadliest strikers.
