Cape Town - Former
Juventus midfielder Simone Padoin has backed the club to challenge for
the Champions League trophy this season because they have what it takes.
Padoin, who now plays for Cagliari, helped the Bianconeri claim five Serie A and two Coppa Italia titles, and believes the current crop of players can win Europe's elite club competition.
"The Juventus Stadium is something exceptional," he told Goal. "The passion there is fantastic, I'll never forget the ovation the fans gave me when I returned.
"Of course the stadium doesn't win by itself, there's also the quality of the team. I've attended several of my former team-mates' games this season, and I've seen something special in their eyes.
"It seems to me that this Juve have reached full awareness of their strength, I think they have all the credentials to try and win the Champions League."
Juve will face one of the toughest challenges in their European campaign when they will meet four-time winners Barcelona in the last eight.
