Cape Town -Ajax Amsterdam have entered the race to sign in-demand Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu, according to reports in the English press.
Deulofeu was considered one of the next generation of talented attackers from La Masia just a few years ago and made his senior international bow in 2014 - after scoring 16 goals in 32 games for the Spain U21 side.
However, a lack of first-team opportunities at Barcelona led to loan spells at the Toffees and Sevilla before a permanent deal of £4.2 million was struck with the Blaugrana.
After excelling under former manager Roberto Martinez, with 13 assists and four goals in 33 games last season, the Spain international has now fallen out of favour with new head coach Ronald Koeman.
With only four starts and one assist this season, the 22-year-old Barcelona youth product has been in talks with AC Milan and Middlesbrough.
However, according to The Guardian, Ajax who are without Betrand Traore and are set to lose Anwar El Ghazi to Ligue 1 side Lille, are now front-runners to land the siganture of the fleet-footed winger.
