Guardiola: Kompany injury not serious

Cape Town - Pep Guardiola has played down the most recent injury sustained by Vincent Kompany that saw him miss Manchester City's 0-0 FA Cup fifth round draw with Huddersfield on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Belgian centre-back has been sidelined for the majority of the season with groin and knee injuries, making just six appearances across all competitions.

He was expected to start against the Terries but sat out the shock stalemate after a reported muscle strain.

The last time Kompany played for City was in the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 28.

After the match, Guardiola told reporters: "Two days ago he felt something in his leg. It is not a big, big issue but today he was not able to play."

It remains to be seen whether or not Kompany has a future at City, having only played 14 times in the league last season, although Guardiola has previously said he is in no rush to for the club captain to make his return.
