Hughes out to intimidate visiting Arsenal

Cape Town - Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes the Bet365 Stadium will be a fortress for his team this season and will present Arsenal with a tough challenge.

The Gunners visit the Potteries on Saturday for a Premier League clash and Hughes has reminded everyone that it's not an easy place to visit.

The Stoke boss also addressed claims that his club have shown a lack of ambition, by stating that the Potters will pull together against their detractors.

"There's a little bit too much negativity about what we are going to do this year,” he told his pre-match press conference, according to the club's official website.

“I think sometimes our fans, almost to a man, when they feel people are talking out of turn, they take exception to that.

"I think there's been a lot of negativity and when our fans get behind the team, from minute one to the last minute, there's no more intimidating place than here.

"I think we are at a point where people cannot take liberties with what we are doing.

“When people ask questions about us, we circle together and we stand strong and show people what we are about, so maybe Arsenal coming into town is a good thing for us.”

Kick off is at 18:30.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
