Iheanacho wants to fight for place at City

Cape Town - Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho insists he is content to stay and fight for his place in Pep Guardiola's side next season.

The Nigerian's future at the Etihad Stadium has become increasingly uncertain in recent months, especially after the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, who pushed Iheanacho further down the pecking order.

Despite the 20-year-old seeing his opportunities in the first team dwindle, he remains adamant that he wants to compete for a place at City instead of looking for a move elsewhere.

"Manchester City is a big team and we need to go far as a squad so we need everybody," Iheanacho told the press.

"Of course everyone is competing but we compete as a team. The manager can only pick 11 players so everyone is working, doing well and giving 100%. So we keep working and see what comes around next season."

The youngster added: "He's a great manager. He's one of the best managers in the world - probably the best - so I've learnt, he's taught me a lot.

"He knows football so I'm happy to be his player and to play for him in the team. I'm happy he's my manager. I'm very, very lucky to have him as my manager in the team."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
