Mido: Hughes is the right man

Cape Town - Former Egyptian international and Premier League footballer Mido believes that Mark Hughes is the right man to develop the talent of newly-signed Stoke City man Ramadan Sobhi.

The signing of the 19-year-old winger was confirmed on Tuesday, 27 July after the Potters agreed a deal with Egyptian Champions Al Ahly for a reported fee of £5m.

Speaking to the club's website, the former Tottenham Hotspur man, who made over 100 appearances in English football, said he spoke to the new Potters recruit and revealed his excitement at seeing him play under the tutalage of Hughes.

"I told him what to expect from the Premier League. It’s a physical league and is different to what he is used to in Egypt," Mido said.

"I’ve told him that he is very lucky to go and work with Mark Hughes because he knows how to deal with the foreign players.

"I’ve also been doing my coaching badges in Wales this summer with Ryan Shawcross and Peter Crouch and they were saying only good things about the manager."

Mido also drew on the experience of Hughes' illustrious professional football career, which he believes will aid him when coaching foreign players.

"He is also someone who played abroad, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and he knows what it means for a young player to go and play in a new place and a new country," Mido added.

"He actually wanted to sign me for Blackburn from Tottenham and I’ve met with him a couple of times and I know he is the right man to work with such a young talent like Ramadan."
