Surman targets strong finish

Cape Town - Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman says the team wants to finish the season on a high to create momentum for next term.

Surman, who joined the Cherries from Norwich in 2013, has played every minute of their debut campaign in England's top flight, and with Eddie Howe's side already guaranteed their Premier League status - he's issued a warning for them not to get complacent in their last three fixtures.

They will face Everton, West Brom and Manchester United in their final three outings, and the former Southampton midfielder feels a winning end to the season breeds confidence into the following campaign.

"The main thing is to take a bit of momentum into next season," Surman told the Daily Echo. "We feel we've done enough to be safe but don't want the season to fizzle out.

"We don't want to be going into next season with a hangover from the last few games of this season, because we haven't played well or picked up many points. We want to finish strongly and carry that on.

"We have some tough games left but everyone is pulling in the same direction to try and finish the season off as well as we can."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
