Cape Town - Bafana Bafana legend Phil Masinga has urged Kaizer Chiefs supporters to be patient with the progress of new signing Bongani Ndulula.
Ndulula has been subjected to some harsh criticism from the club's fans, despite not yet having the chance to strut his stuff in Amakhosi colours yet.
Much of the criticism stems from the fact that his previous employers, AmaZulu, were relegated from South Africa's top flight on the last day of the Premiership campaign.
The 25-year-old squandered a glorious opportunity to find the back of the net against Maritzburg United in the final-day fixture, a match which Usuthu ended up losing 2-1, sending them down to the National First Division in the process.
"I don't think it is fair enough to judge a player at a new club before he has even played for or kicked a ball for his new club," Masinga told goal.com.
"Ndulula needs time to settle at Chiefs, he is a quality player. He was at [Orlando] Pirates, he didn't get game-time there and struggled a lot to make it.
"He then went to AmaZulu, played regularly at first and scored a few goals too; that let him to get a call-up to Bafana Bafana, where he contributed by creating and scoring goals that qualified us to go to the AFCON [2015 in Equatorial Guinea].
"You can see there is the potential to do great things with him; like I said he just needs time to settle."
