Jelusic hails in-form Mahlasela

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic head coach Veselin Jelusic has heaped praise on in-demand playmaker Kabelo Mahlasela after his goal secured them a priceless away victory over Cape Town City.

The 1-0 win at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening was Celtic's first win in Cape Town in 16 attempts, and their Serbian manager says it was down to their intent to go for all three points against the MTN8 runners-up.

Jelusic has only lost one game in seven league outings this season, bringing defensive stability to the men from Bloemfontein, who've often been considered as the underachievers of local football - due to their passionate fan base.

And while their attacking midfielder Mahlasela opened his account for the Premiership season, the 26-year-old has reportedly attracted the interest of Kaizer Chiefs and FC Basel for his creative displays with Siwelele.

"He is technically a very good player‚ a very skilful and talented player. He is also a creative and fast player. He has so many good qualities‚" Jelusic said.

"We came into the game with an open gameplan and as you could see from the first half we had many chances to score - we didn’t come here for a draw

"We knew also that City is one of the best teams in the country‚ but they played in the final of the MTN8 and maybe they are a little bit tired. We used that."
