Khune asks for patience from fans

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has promised the fans that Amakhosi will be working very hard to turn around the team's poor early season form.

Chiefs lost 2-1 to Bidvest Wits in their opening Premiership match before being edged out 1-0 by Cape Town City in an MTN8 quarter-final encounter in the Mother City over the weekend.

But, with nearly the entire season still ahead and a break from domestic action with the upcoming FIFA international week, Khune is optimistic they will soon get back to winning ways.

"We remain positive," Khune told the club's website, "we are looking forward to the next game after the FIFA break. And, on behalf of the team, I want to ask the supporters to be patient. We will continue to work hard until we get it right."

Khune also points out that Chiefs have let themselves down in front of goal, more composure needed in the heat of battle.

"We work a lot on finishing at training, but when it comes to match situations we can"t get it right," he said.

"It is very sad to be knocked out of a cup competition. A big team like Chiefs deserves better, above all the supporters, who show us so much love. We tried to throw everything at City, but it was not enough to get us the result we wanted."
