Larsen says transfer talk won't derail Sibiya

Cape Town - Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says he won't allow reported interest in Nduduzo Sibiya to distract the young midfield prospect.

Sibiya has grabbed a number of goals and assists in the last couple of months, with an outstanding solo goal knocking Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup recently shooting him to prominence.

Sundowns have been mentioned as being interested in signing the youngster, although there has been no official approach.

Larsen, however, says he's confident that the 21-year-old Sibiya and some of Abafana bes'Thende's other young talents are tied down at the club and won't easily be poached away.

"All our young players have contracts and, as a club, we've got nothing to worry about. Our chairlady [Mato Madlala] will decide where and when [the players are] ready to be moved on.

"But at this stage there's has been no discussions and nobody has approached the club, so I think he's focussed," Larsen told the media."

The Arrows mentor says it's important not to allow his budding young stars to be distracted by media speculation.

"We often counsel our players about these type of things and sometimes things are put in the media to derail players' confidence or get them do things they don't usually do," he explained.

"He [Sibiya] knows full and well about it and he's been focusing at training; he's looking good and we are looking forward to seeing him play on Friday."

Arrows are in action on Friday night when they host Sundowns in a league encounter in Durban.
