Masinga backs Sundowns for CAF run

Cape Town - Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Philemon Masinga believes the side's performance in Congo on Saturday is proof they can go far in the CAF Champions League.

The Brazilians earned a 1-1 draw over AC Leopards over the weekend to advance to the next round of the competition 3-1 on aggregate over two legs.

Having won the first leg 2-0 at home, Downs knew that scoring an away goal would all but seal the tie and they grabbed the all important strike as the seventh minute of match.

Masinga believes the fact they were good enough to draw away from home in the continental competition, as well as the skill and professionalism they have shown throughout this season means they have all the attributes required to make it deep into the latter stages of the tournament.

"By drawing away in Congo it just shows that the team has what it takes to play in Africa," he was quoted saying by Soccer Laduma.

"They are doing well at home and also in Africa because they are taking every competition with the same seriousness.

"If they continue like that they can go far in Champions league and that's what coach Pitso wants," Masinga concluded.
