Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham has praised the influence and leadership brought to the team by attacking midfielder Mark Mayambela.
The hugely talented Mayambela has arguably struggled to realise his full potential and has drifted amongst a number of clubs over the years.
But he seems to have found his groove at his home town club, and it has been a more mature Mayambela that has featured in 22 league games for the Urban Warriors this season.
It is the most matches he has played in a single campaign since featuring in 21 league fixtures for Orlando Pirates six seasons back (and all 21 of those appearances came off the bench).
The 29-year-old has netted three league goals, provided several assists, and generally given Ajax excellent attacking impetus from the middle of the park.
"His experience is quite good for the players, especially for the youngsters," Graham told KickOff.
"He gives great advice. He guides the players well and he knows what do in certain situations off the field and especially on the field he is a player you need him when things are not right.
"You could see him showing leadership and it has worked out for us. He has scored vital goals and helped the team to do well. Having Mark is a big boost for the team," the captain added.
