Mbesuma slams previous coaches

Cape Town - Mpumalanga Black Aces striker Collins Mbesuma reveals he was often not given a chance at previous clubs because coaches believed he was overweight.

Mbesuma has had a resurgence under Ertugral this season and tops the goalscoring charts in the league with 12 strikes. The in-form Zambian international has rediscovered the form that saw him score 35 goals for Kaizer Chiefs in 2005.

In the last few years, Mbesuma has had unsuccessful stints with Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and Orlando Pirates.

"Some coaches chose to never give me a chance. They gave up on me just by looking at me; judged me only on my physical appearance," Mbesuma told KickOff.

"They were the ones who concluded that I could not run and said I was overweight, yet this is my body and its shape will never change.

"They failed to understand me; they didn't take notice that I was able to do what all the other players were doing at training. If I was really overweight I wouldn't be able to do what other players were doing at training.

"The truth is that I'm never going to change my football. I cannot play with another striker and you have to know and appreciate me for my qualities."
