Ndoro: We’ll do it for Senzo

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro admits that the memories of Senzo Meyiwa’s death are still fresh in their minds as South Africa is commemorating two years since his tragic passing.

In a burglary at his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, the goalkeeper was shot dead on October 26, 2014, a night after helping the Buccaneers to an emphatic 4-1 win over Ajax Cape Town in the Telkom Knockout.

The Buccaneers will face perennial rivals Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday and the Zimbabwean international insists that the Happy People are eager to claim bragging rights for their fallen hero.

"All I want to say is may you continue to rest in peace, Senzo Meyiwa," Ndoro said ahead of the much anticipated fixture.

"It has been two years with him gone but the memories are still fresh on our minds in camp.

"We’ll be going to Saturday's game against Chiefs hoping to do well and win it for him because most players in the team who played with him are feeling down this week.

"All players still have his memories, we still talk about him and we told ourselves that we’ll do it for him."

Heading to this clash, Ndoro is enjoying a rich vein of form as he currently leads the Premiership top goal scorers list.

However, the forward insists that he will not be under pressure to deliver this weekend.

"Playing with superstars in our team makes it easy for me to score goals," he added.

"As a striker I have to take my chances whenever I get them, chances are coming at the early stages of the season and I had to bury them.

"But I won’t put myself under a lot of pressure on Saturday; I will just go there and play my normal game."

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
