Pitso sees stubbornness in Sundowns' game

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes that his side were a little bit stubborn in their encounter against Orlando Pirates.

Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat’s first-half goals ensured that the Brazilians left the Orlando stadium with maximum points in their 2-1 win.

According to KickOff, Mosimane accepted the fact that the Buccaneers outplayed his side in the second-half and admits that he expected it nonetheless.

“A game of two halves, but it’s normal and we expected that,” said Mosimane.

“You can’t come to Orlando Stadium and think you will walk in the park. They had to respond, I told them [my team], one goal will bring them back and that’s all they needed but we absorbed the pressure.

Mpho Makola hit a stunning free-kick which would make for a nervy last 20 minutes as Sundowns put in a well rounded defensive game.

“But I think it was [job] done in the first-half, we could have score three, one more in the first half. If Leo had scored that one it could have been a brilliant goal, and Keagan went one-on-one with the keeper and he rushed.

“But mentally and tactically, plus physically, we have got the legs, we are stronger and we are a little bit stubborn.”
