Cape Town - Polokwane City produced a remarkable fightback to beat Cape Town City 4-2 in Saturday's final Premiership clash of the 2016/17 season.
Cape Town City rushed into an early two goal lead through
Aubrey Ngoma and Lehlohonolo Majoro but Rise and Shine responded well.
Four unanswered goals from Jabulani Maluleke, Rodney Ramagalela, Sibusiso Mbonani and Vusimusi Mngomezulu sealed the points for the home side.
In a thrilling end to the season for both teams, Cape Town City exploded out of the blocks and quickly went into a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes.
Firstly, the ever impressive Aubrey Ngoma continued his fine form when he gave the Citizens the lead inside two minutes. Rise and Shine were well and truly on the ropes five minutes later as Lehlohonolo Majoro fired home five minutes later.
Yet, Polokwane responded well and Jabulani Maluleke started the fightback when he pulled a goal back on 18 minutes. Just before the break, the prolific Rodney Ramagalela made it 2-2 as the home side began to take full control.
The away team were clearly shaken after throwing away a two goal lead and when Sibusiso Mbonani got the third in the 51st minute, it appeared heads started to drop in Eric Tinkler's team after such a long season.
It was largely over as a contest with around 20 minutes to go when Vusimusi Mngomezulu was on hand to finish off to complete the scoring, as it ended 4-2 at the Pietersburg Stadium.
