Sundowns striker set for Amakhosi switch - report

Cape Town - Leonardo Castro will reportedly leave Mamelodi Sundowns to join Kaizer Chiefs, although both camps are claiming to have no knowledge of the supposed move.

The 28-year-old has battled to make an impact at the Brazilians over the last six months or so, partly due to injury, and also due to him spending some time back home in Colombia to attend to family issues.

Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela meanwhile is known to be looking to add more firepower up front, and according to a 'well-placed source' quoted by IOL website, Castro could be his man.

"Castro is on his way to Chiefs. It is a done deal. That's why Pitso Mosimane is not playing him. They have agreed with Chiefs in principle," the unnamed source said.

Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa and his Chiefs counterpart Vina Maphosa have both claimed to know nothing of the supposed move.

If he does sign, Castro could potentially form an all-South American attack with Venezuelan Gustavo Paez.
