Play resumes at French Open

Paris - Play resumed at the French Open at 17:35 after a rain delay of more than two and a half hours on Saturday.

After a spell of thunder and lightning over Paris, play had been suspended when torrential rain hit at 14:55.

Defending women's champion Serena Williams was locked in a second set dogfight against France's Kristina Mladenovic.

Williams had taken the first set against Mladenovic 6-4 with the scores level at 6-6 and a tiebreak about to start in the second when play was suspended.
