Cape Town - Rilee Rossouw admits that, although he has thought about returning to play for the Proteas, he will continue his Kolpak deal with Hampshire.

Rossouw has returned to South Africa to partake in the Mzansi Super League, which gets under way on Friday.

The 29-year-old came in as a replacement for Zimbabwe batsman Sean Williams with the Tshwane Spartans.

Rossouw, who has played 36 ODIs and 15 T20Is for the Proteas, left South Africa in January 2017 when he accepted a Kolpak deal at the English county.

"It was a decision that was not made overnight‚" Rossouw told the Sowetan Live, when asked if he regrets turning his back on the Proteas.

"My main focus is the Mzansi Super League and it feels good to be back with some of the guys.

"I still have one year left on my contract in England and I have not come to think about what the future holds‚" he said.

"As I stand here right now‚ I probably want to keep on extending.

"I have thought about coming back to play for the Proteas many times but I am sticking to my decision for now."

A Kolpak player is deemed as an overseas player during the Mzansi Super League.

Each team must field a minimum of two overseas players in their starting XIs.

The Tshwane Spartans get their Mzansi Super League campaign under way on Friday when they take on the Cape Town Blitz at Newlands.

The first ball is due to be bowled at 19:00.
