Further frustration for Lions, Knights at Wanderers

Cape Town - There was more One-Day Cup frustration after a wet outfield at the Wanderers Stadium forced the Highveld Lions second successive abandonment, this time against the Knights in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Heavy rain in the Gauteng area over the past week had left plenty of water on the field, and despite a good drainage system at the ground, the volume of water appeared too much to be flushed away.

It meant the decision to call off the game was taken early as the two sides had to settle for a share of the points.

The hosts, whose previous encounter with the Warriors was ended prematurely by rain on Wednesday, are now without a win in three matches of the campaign. They also lost the opening game to the Dolphins in Pietermaritzburg last Saturday.

The Knights too are yet to win either of their first two games, having lost to the Titans last weekend.
