CSA trials ball-by-ball music in T20 cricket

Centurion - Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been using the ongoing T20I series between the Proteas and India to trial playing music between every delivery.

While music in between overs and after wickets has long been a feature of limited overs cricket all over the world, the decision was taken in this series to go one step further.

"Twenty20 is played in festive environment," Cricinfo quoted a CSA official as saying.

"It is followed by families and kids. We wanted to see if our public wants more of the music and dance. We will of course listen to the people and see what the survey says. If they like it, we might even get a professional DJ at our grounds for T20."

The Trans-Tasman Tri-Series between in New Zealand, where Australia and England also took part, came in for criticism on social media last week when music was also played between deliveries during a game at Eden Park. 

The third T20I between the Proteas and India takes place at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday and will start at 18:00.
