Hendricks happy to contribute after 'dry' ODI series

Cape Town - Proteas batsman Reeza Hendricks says he was happy to contribute with the bat in the T20I series against Sri Lanka after he had a "dry" patch in the recent ODI games.

Hendricks was named Man-of-the-Series as the Proteas completed a whitewash in the three-match T20I series with a rain-affected 45-run victory at the Wanderers on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Hendricks followed up his knock of 65 in Centurion on Friday with 66 on Sunday and was happy to regain some form after only scoring 42 runs in four innings in the five-match ODI series.

"It has been a dry couple of days after the ODI series, but I am quite pleased with the T20Is - it was a good team performance," said Hendricks.

"I am just happy I could contribute for the team."

Hendricks also praised the work done by Dwaine Pretorius in the third T20 as the all-rounder smashed 77 off just 42 balls after being promoted to number three in the batting order.

The Lions team-mates shared in a stand of 90 for the second wicket before Hendricks lost his wicket with five overs of the innings remaining.

Hendricks continued: "I thought I had to go for it with a few overs remaining. Dwaine played really well - he made it really easy for me. I am quite pleased overall."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
