Cape Town -  Senuran Muthusamy starred with ball and then bat as the Dolphins and the Warriors played out a draw in their final match of the Sunfoil Series season in Durban on Sunday.

The rising all-round star first claimed career-best figures of seven for 83, before hitting an unbeaten 84 (105 balls, 11 fours, 2 sixes) at Kingsmead with the two captains eventually shaking hands midway through the final afternoon.

The match was heavily affected by rain with less than two days possible - conditions that severely dented the visitors' title prospects as they had to settle for second place behind the Titans, who beat the Knights to win the 2017/18 crown.

Day four had begun with the men from Eastern Cape batting on 245 for five and they moved that score on to 320 for nine declared thanks to 52 not out (99 balls, 6 fours) by teenage debutant Sinethemba Qeshile.

Muthusamy also sent down 35 overs and 10 maidens to improve on his previous best figures of five for 28 for KwaZulu-Natal against Northern Cape in the Sunfoil Cup earlier this season.

The 24-year-old then batted with calm as wickets fell around him, which ended with the Dolphins bundled out for 211 in 44.5 overs.

There were two other major contributors in Dane Vilas (47) and Jason Oakes (28).
