Dhoni gives India advice ahead of 2020 T20 World Cup

Cape Town - Former India captain MS Dhoni has given the current squad advice on how to be successful in next year's T20 World Cup.

The 38-year-old Dhoni has not officially retired from international cricket but has not made an appearance for his country since the World Cup, instead deciding to serve a term in the military.

Dhoni was India captain when they won the inaugural World T20 in South Africa in 2007 when he led a young side to the title and had advice for Virat Kohli and his charges.

In quotes published by PTI, Dhoni said: "What you want to achieve as a team is to win the tournament but that's a long-term goal.

"Ultimately, what you do is to break it into smaller things.

"And It's not always about few of the individuals performing a lot better than the whole lot.

"What you want is for everybody to contribute. That one wicket at that right moment, that outstanding catch."

The T20 World Cup will take place in Australia next year, starting in October.
