Cape Town - Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs is reportedly interested and has applied for the head coach role of the Indian women's cricket team.
This comes after former Indian bowler Ramesh Powar's ended his three-month term with the BCCI on November 30.
According to Times of India, Gibbs applied for the role and if shortlisted, may be interviewed by a BCCI panel headed by former Indian great Kapil Dev.
Gibbs confirmed the news via his Twitter account, writing "I've put my name forward yes.."
Former Indian bowler Manoj Prabhakar and former England batsman Owais Shah have also applied for the top role.
The deadline for the Indian women's head coach post is on Friday, December 14.

Gibbs has managed Kuwait to an historic win over Saudi Arabia that could see the country qualify for the 2020 ICC World T20 in Australia.
The 44-year-old has also recently coached the Rajputs at the T10 League earlier this month, which saw the Rajputs finish sixth in the tournament.
Gibbs played in 90 Tests, 248 ODIs and 23 T20 internationals for the Proteas between 1996 and 2010.
