Snedeker: PGA Tour can the lead the way for sport's return

As the PGA Tour prepares to return, Brandt Snedeker says golf is perfectly positioned to give sports fans some "semblance of normalcy" again.

Snedeker will join his fellow PGA Tour pros for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, which starts on 11 June.

The tour has been suspended since March because of the coronavirus pandemic, and 11 tournaments have since been cancelled.

"I think everybody's ready for it," Snedeker said. "Obviously, our way of life has probably changed going forward, but we need to see some semblance of normalcy and I think golf can do that really well."

Several health and safety measures have been put in place for golf's return. There will be no fans in attendance for at least the first four tournaments, while players, caddies and others at the events will be encouraged to practice social distancing.

Snedeker is confident, however, that the game can deal with any challenges.

"We can go out there and play in a safe environment," he said. "Social distancing shouldn't be much of an issue for us."

Snedeker also believes playing without galleries won't be a problem.

"I think we're all going to hearken back to our college days when there wasn't a bunch of people out there watching us play," he added.

"It's going to be different coming down the stretch for sure because you feed off the energy of the crowd, you feed off their excitement.

"I think everybody realises for the time being we're having to do it and is willing to go out there and test it and see how it goes."
