Can you name every player to finish runner-up to Tiger Woods at a major?

accreditation

Cape Town - In the wise words of Ricky Bobby, “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”

No truer words have been spoken, especially when it comes to golf majors. Memories are sharp when it comes to recalling the winning shot or the champion holding aloft his Claret Jug or slipping into the green jacket. They become far less so when trying to name that poor schmoe that finished second or lost in the playoff.

It’s no different when looking back over the career of Tiger Woods. We all recall the audacious chips, putts and fist pumps. Who he left broken and battered in his wake is far less memorable.

And now as Woods’ looks to mount a challenge for his 15th major title at Augusta, we take a look back at those unfortunate souls whose names will be forgotten by time.

Par for the course is 50%, so anything better and you’ve done well.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
