Michael, Seabi have unfinished business

Cape Town - The EFC have rebooked a fight between welterweight contenders Luke Michael and Conrad Seabi.

The duo were initially set to collide at EFC 76 in December 2018, but Michael (4-3) had to withdraw after dislocating a kneecap in training.

Seabi (6-5) instead faced Brazilian Jose da Rocha (10-5) and suffered a swift TKO loss in Pretoria, a fight, which he felt was stopped prematurely by referee Bobby Karagiannidis at Time Square.

Michael and Seabi will now meet on the main card of EFC 78 at GrandWest Arena in Cape Town on Saturday, April 13.

Mamelodi-born Seabi had little sympathy for Michael's injury woes last time around, and nothing has changed.

“Last time Luke pulled out like a b****,” Seabi told EFC staff writers via text.

“This time there is no where to run and I will take his head off in front of his hometown!”

Michael, who hails from the Mother City but trains at Coach Quan University in Johannesburg, submitted Rodrique Kena (3-2) and Francois Cundari (2-3) in his previous two trips to the hexagon.

Thirty-nine-year-old Seabi, a striking specialist based at Fight Sports Centre in Norwood, TKO'd German Max Merten (1-3) for a fifth win in six outings prior to losing to Da Rocha.

The duo will scrap before Michael's team-mate and bantamweight king JP Buys (6-2) battles interim champ Luthando Biko (5-1) for undisputed honours in the EFC 78 headliner.
