Cape Town - South Africa's Chad le Clos won silver in the men's 50m butterfly at the FINA Short-Course World Championships in Hangzhou, China.
Swimming in Lane 5, Le Clos touched the wall in a time of 21.97 to settle for second behind 38-year-old Nicholas Santos of Brazil, who won in a championship record of 21.81.
Trinidad and Tobago's Dylan Carter finished up the podium with a third-place finish in 22.38, while South Africa's Ryan Coetzee finished eighth in a time of 22.88
Earlier in the championship, Le Clos won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly and took silver in the 200m race.
In the men's 100m freestyle semi-final, Le Clos qualified fastest for the final after finishing with a time of 45.89.
Meanwhile, Cameron van der Burgh finished first in his men's 50m breaststroke semi-final, touching the wall in 25.76.
This is Van der Burgh's final event after the 30-year-old announced his retirement from competitive swimming earlier this week after winning gold in the men's 100m breaststroke.
