Top 4 must-watch weekend sporting events

Cape Town - It's the weekend!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these FOUR events!

1. Super Rugby

Round 19 of the Super Rugby action gets under way. 

On Saturday, the Highlanders take on a desperate Rebels (07:15 SA time), the Crusaders face the Blues (09:35 SA time) and the Waratahs battle the Brumbies (11:45 SA time).

Back in South Africa, the Lions face the Bulls at Ellis Park (15:05) and the Sharks need a win against the Jaguares to secure a possible playoff spot (17:15).

2. Proteas v Sri Lanka 

The Proteas are back in action for the first time since April.

Faf du Plessis and his men are in Galle as they take on Sri Lanka in the first of two Tests.

Already this Test has proven to be challenging for the relatively young SA side, but can the Proteas fight back to avoid defeat - and will this be a historic Test for fast bowler Dale Steyn?

3. Wimbledon

We're down to the business end at the All England Club.

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams is on the verge of making history as she takes on former No 1 Angelique Kerber in the women's final.

While over for the men's, South Africa's Kevin Anderson is into the Wimbledon final and will either play Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal on Sunday.

Also let's not forget our other countryman Raven Klaasen and doubles partner Michael Venus as they take on Jack Sock and Mike Bryan in their doubles final on Saturday.

4. Soccer World Cup

After so many upsets and surprises in Russia, only two teams remain...

France and Croatia will set Moscow alight when they face off for the coveted Soccer World Cup title.

Who will lift up the trophy? Will there be more drama? Will we see the match go into extra-time again?!

All our answers will be answered in Sunday's final at 17:00 SA time.

On Saturday, Belgium and England will battle in the third/fourth placed playoff (16:00 SA time).
