He was arrested and taken to Chatswood police station where he was breath tested and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.083.

Police charged him with mid-range drink driving, his licence was suspended and he will appear at Hornsby Local Court on January 9.

The spokesperson said it is believed there were no other passengers in the car.

Waugh played 79 Tests for Australia between 2000 and 2009.
