Cape Town - Utility back Craig Barry will play for the Stormers in Saturday’s warm-up match against the Bulls in Wellington before returning to the Cheetahs on a loan agreement.
Barry, who can play wing and fullback, was loaned to the Cheetahs in November last year.
He was set to return to the Stormers ahead of this year’s Super Rugby tournament, but the Cape franchise agreed to extend his loan agreement with the Cheetahs until May.
However, according to Netwerk24, Barry must first play for the Stormers in their pre-season friendly this weekend.
He was on Wednesday included in the Cheetahs’ squad which departs on a three-week PRO14 tour to Wales and Scotland on Monday (February 5).
“Craig is a good player and will tour with us, but he will play for the Stormers (this weekend). We’ll welcome him with open arms when he returns,” Cheetahs coach Rory Duncan said.
The Cheetahs face the Cardiff Blues in Wales on Saturday, February 10 (21:35 (SA time), before travelling to Scotland where they will face Conference A log leaders, Glasgow Warriors, in Glasgow on Friday, February 16 (21:35 SA time).
They will then fly back to Wales to conclude their tour with a match against the Ospreys on Saturday, February 24 (19:30 SA time).
